- HK P7, As New, Collector Grade, Boxed w/ 2 Mags. 9mm, c.1981 Description: This is an early HK P7 was made in 1981. It has the European style Heel Mag. Release and the small trigger guard. The pistol appears “as new” but has been at least test fired. The exterior finish is just as it came from the factory in Germany.

HK pistols use a two letter date code to identify the year of manufacture. A – 0 B – 1 C – 2 D – 3 E – 4 F – 5 G – 6 H – 7 I – 8 K – 9 (J is only used in magazine date codes) This USP Full Size.40S&W has a date code of KH putting its manufacture year at 1997.
The P7M13 is a 9mm pistol similar tothe P7M8 except it has a double-stack Magazine that holds 13rounds. This gives it a wider grip similar to the P7M10.
Further manufacture of the 13 round magazinesis banned in the USA. The P7M10 magazine is still legal to manufactureand is almost identical. It can be used in the P7M13 filledwith 13 rounds of 9mm vs. the 10 rounds of .40 SW it is designed for.
The M13 debuted in 1982 with prototypeserial numbers from 001 to 059. Production serial numbers as of January,1993 run from 71101 M13 to 89600 M13. The P7M13 is still in productionas of 3/00, but US sales are limited to law enforcement only due to themagazine capacity.
The P7M13 has a gas-retarded action anda polygon bore barrel.

In 1983, H&K designed a variant forthe Mexican Government, who had asked for an external safety. Itwas designed with an external sliding safety on the right side of the frameas shown below. Sliding it to the rear revealed a white 0. Sliding it forward covered the 0 and left the red 1 visible. The DIM on the left grip panel stands for 'Depto. Ind.Mil',and is stamped on the left side of the slide as well. The serialseries for this version was 10000 to 13000.
